Top 10 Montreal Night Clubs, Jazz Clubs, Lounges, and late-night Eats
Personally, I like a good book or a live jazz lick running down my ear more than Montreal night clubs.
My idea of a swinging Saturday night usually involves sitting down with a glass of red wine, friends, and a board game. Ha.
But sometimes friends manage to coax me into a bar, club, or house-party.
I've made a list of Montreal night clubs -- the best of Montreal's night life, actually.
This list of Montreal attactions is a summary of a poll conducted in 2006 by the Montreal Mirror, a local newspaper.
Therefore, this list represents the combined opinion of thousands of Montrealers.
So when you are in Montreal, you'll know where to find a good...

I've put the links there to help you learn more about picks (if I was able to find a website).
And the winners are...
Montreal Night Clubs have their share of available, consensual men and women looking to make new bedroom friends. I phoned up all my single friends and asked them to spill the beans on their best kept secrets.
I also asked my friends who are taken -- since I figure they've had more luck at picking-up than my single friends.
TIP: Don't be discouraged if you're "hey, do you come here often?" is met by a blank stare.
It's not because they don't think you're smooth.
Many Montreal girls speak only french and simply don't understand you. I once tried for an hour to get a girl's attention. I thought I had B.O...
I thought I was ugly.
I thought my smile was having an off night.
I thought I, um..clashed.
...Then I realized that none of the bar's girls even knew how to say "Get lost" in english.
Solution? You should stick to downtown bars, or bars on the WEST side of Montreal. These Montreal night clubs are more likely to have english or bilingual guys and girls.
1. Metropolis
2. La Sala Rossa
3. Spectrum
4. Club Soda
5. Le Medley
6. Le Swimming (RIP)
7. Foufounes Électriques
8. La Tulipe
9. Café Campus
10. Bell Centre
TIP: I prefer Metropolis because it is really intimate and you can actually make eye contact with the band. It's also a lot cheaper and you can discover some fantastic new artists about to break out.
The Bell Centre has Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, but unless you have 150$ tickets, you might as well be listening to their CD on your couch at home. At least, that's how I feel...
2006 edit: Luba Lounge has closed! This classic of Montreal night clubs has shut its dirty, dirty doors for the last time. I raise a glass in its memory.
1. Upstairs
2. Jello Bar
3. House of Jazz
4. Bily Kun
5. Pub Quartier Latin
6. Cobalt
7. Le Blanc
8. 1221 Crescent
9. Grumpy's on Wednesday
10. Barfly on Thursday
#1 Upstairs and #10 Barfly are the Ying and Yang of my list of Jazz Montreal Night Clubs.
Upstairs is cool, crisp, air-conditioned jazz. It's jazz that won't offend. I like to go to Upstairs with friends, or on a date, when I want swank, class and gourmet tapas.
Barly, on the other hand, is loud, sweaty jazz that will gust up your pant legs. It harkens back to the days when jazz clubs were dens of sin.
