We have some gorgeous Montreal hotels and some real stinkers! SO MAKE SURE YOU PICK A GOOD ONE!
Picking the right one can make or break a trip and it's crucial that you don't get fooled by glossy websites that are all fluff and mirrors.
This article will help you.
My friends and family have visited Montreal so many times that I have some really good, honest, hard-lived tips to pass on.
Their favorite hotels are ones that are
close to Montreal attractions
reasonably priced
clean, well furnished and
friendly staff
Friendly staff is so important to me: the worst, I mean the pits, is it to pay 200$ and be treated poorly by rude hotel staff.
So pay attention...
Because the following tips do not only include "best Montreal hotel cocktail bar" and "best hotel complimentary breakfast" (although these are important. yum!).
Below are also warnings about the icky and overpriced Montreal hotels...
1. Cigarette reeking
2. Paper-thin walls
3. Dangerous part of town
...hotels which you'll want to politely say: "no thank you" to.
Let's begin...
Scale: $ cheap $$ beautiful $$$ luxary
1) Pet and Businessman Friendly...
Ron in his room. Deep breaths, Ron :)Intercontinental Hotel Montreal
Price: $$
The worst part about the Intercontinental Hotel Montreal is its name: it's not catchy.
But I suggest you forgive Intercontinental for their awkward grammar because this is a beautiful hotel, it's generously priced, and best of all... it's one of the few Montreal hotels that are pooch friendly!
And it's within walking distance of downtown, the financial district (great hotel for business), and Old Montreal. That means everyone in the family will be happy. It's Goldilock's middle porridge.
But enough talk, take a look for yourself at one of their rooms...
Thanks to Ron, who sent me this video after finding www.visiting-montreal.com.
(Side note: I love feedback! To send me reviews, suggestions, etc

For all you get (and you get a lot), it is very reasonably priced.
I volunteer at Make-A-Wish Foundation of Quebec. We grant wishes to children who suffer from life-threatening illnesses. Helping children meet celebrities like Johnny Depp and Adam Sandler is a dream come true for me.
Now, I know what you're thinking:
"How is Josh going to tie this in with Hotel Place D'Armes? He's not even talking about Montreal hotels, he's talking about Make-A-Wish Foundation."
You're probably also now thinking:
"It's weird that Josh is putting words in my mouth."
These are excellent observations!
But this is my point; this is why I'm biased...
I asked hotels in Old Montreal to donate one of their luxary rooms to Make-A-Wish Foundation. Hotel Place D'Armes was the only one that came through.
You can read about it
here.
As you'll see in the credits, I am Make-A-Wish Foundation of Quebec's editor.
So I'm biased: I think the owners are wonderful people.
This really puts me in a dilemma...
How do I recommend this Montreal hotel to you, which I think is
1) gorgeous
2) breathtaking
3) memorable
4) owned by very nice people (that would influence my choice, after all. You want to give your business to nice people, right?)
