YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH (hehe, sorry. I've always wanted to say that!)
The truth is that Montreal isn't one of those cities you visit where you ask a hotel concierge for interesting places to visit, and then feel like you're pulling teeth to get a recommendation out of the guy.
You won't have this problem in Montreal, I promise you that! In fact, I'll gladly send you a baker's dozen bagels if I'm wrong.
Ask somebody, anybody what their favorite Montreal attractions are and you'll see his/her face light up like a million watt Christmas tree.
Warning. Ask a crowd of Montrealers for their favorites and be prepared to surf a tidal wave of opinions.
The happy mob will probably sound something like this...
"I love Schwartz's Hebrew Deli and their smoked-meat, piping hot in my tummy," yells out a lady in a purple fedora. " Yes, honey don't be deterred by long lines and thinly padded shoes. It's worth it."
"No. No. No," huffs a tall man with sunglasses and a felt sports jacket. "The Montreal Jazz Fetival 
is tops, daddy-oh. Yah, all that sweet saxophone nectar dripping into my cup; women shoutin' and guitars howlin' and the big bass pounding out a heartbeat.
